England
A 41-episode premium factual series following Tom Scott as he travels across England exploring the people, places and stories shaping the country today.
“Tom Scott: England,” produced by Scott’s Pad 26 Ltd in collaboration with Penny4 and Breadbox Studios.
The brief
Tom came to us with a big one: a solo road trip through every historic county of England, filming a video a day for eight weeks, mostly by himself, with help from the locals showing him around on the day. Voiceover and studio pieces to camera would be recorded months later and dropped in on a second edit. He wanted the whole series edited and scheduled before episode one went out, so it would land as one coherent piece. The catch? Nobody knew how many episodes there would be (somewhere between 35 and 48, and it ended up at 41). So he needed a post team that could start cutting while he was still on the road, and grow or shrink with the series.
What we did
We ran the complete end-to-end post-production pipeline, starting in September while filming was still under way (August to October, with pickup shoots for pieces to camera in January). We shaped the editorial identity, pacing and workflow, and every one of the 41 episodes was finished before the series launched.
The result
41 episodes and counting, most passing a million views each. Episodes go out weekly, first on Nebula and then a week later on Tom’s YouTube channel. England brought in more Nebula sign-ups than any other series and was covered widely in the press. Every episode was finished by the end of March, apart from the sponsor segments, so Tom could get on with planning his next move!
Behind the scenes

Yes, one of our editors is a cake. No, we don’t know how either.

Breadbox insulated me from all the complexity, from all the decisions and problems with the edit. Everything was delivered on time, first time. They’re a wonderful team!
